Reality at Christmas
It only took eleven minutes Saturday morning for me to read the Christmas stories aloud (Matthew 1:18 – 2:23; Luke 1:26-56, 2:1-40). Yes it’s full of light and music, hope and peace but it is also filled with the stark reality of life then, and now. A few weeks ago I was looking across a small lake at a hillside topped with three power transmission towers – and they took on a life of their own. A fresh page-a new book
Yesterday morning I cracked open a new journal book. It was the first Sunday of Advent – sort of New Year’s Day for many church traditions. We start all over again, listening to the story of God’s love for us expressed in the birth, life, death, resurrection and continuing presence of Jesus – and tell this story with our lives. More >
Learning to See, Again (3)
As I write this I am staring at a computer screen. I have read the paper online, looked at emails – lots of images coming at me. Our friend Mary, at breakfast the other day observed that we are seeing images that are lit from behind. Nature is different- we see each other or a work of art through reflected light. More >
