“Open up-this is a raid”
Not words you want to hear – but instead of cops banging down the door it was Mavis Staples’ gentle gospel voice. She continued the song; “I wanna get through to you, you’re not alone”. It doesn’t happen often but as I sat in the concert I shivered gently each time she sang “you’re not alone.” It was a gentle “raid” to open me up. More >
Truth is a Lemon Meringue
I burst out laughing when my grandkids chanted this line from one of their storybooks. “The truth is a lemon meringue” is now a laughter inducing mantra around our family. It is appropriate given my penchant for baking and enjoying that very pie. Say it out loud where you are now – feel the smile on your face. More >
What’s in a Picture?
The importance of images was driven home emphatically when Touchstone received a letter saying “You owe us $2000 for using an image for which you don’t have a licence.” A partial image in our old website had been noticed by a licencing agency. A design person had been careless – we had messed up. Then we paid up – a much reduced fee after a friendly chat with the agency. More >
Chapter ‘12 of Our Life Story
We’ve turned the page of Chapter ’11 of our life story and we’ve begun writing the first pages of Chapter ’12. Even at the beginning of a new year our lives are a mix of messiness and heroism, fear and hope, cringing and courage.
