“Jesus Sleeps on His Anger”
With the cries of the crowd still echoing in his ears Jesus entered Jerusalem on what’s now called Palm Sunday. What a day- crowds cheering his every move. But he wept for the human longing behind the cheers.
He entered “His Father’s House” – a place of prayer that was to be for all nations. He looked around and saw the place of worship transformed into a commercial enterprise.
Sunday night 2000 years ago Jesus slept with thoughts of the week ahead tumbling through his mind. He slept on it and the next day performed a powerful act of civil disobedience- a calculated challenge to his culture’s loss of spirit to commerce.
A Prayer for Today
God, you know that I find it hard to sleep many Sunday nights- all the week’s demands running through my mind. You more than understand – what a Sunday night you must have had facing this last week of your life. Draw me by your passion to worship you in spirit and walk truly day by day. For Jesus’ sake…
