Offering, encouraging and teaching friendship in Christ to leaders in the business, political, arts and spiritual marketplaces.
Gratitude
It’s a common word but an uncommon occurrence. Dissatisfaction fuels our economy – I couldn’t possibly be satisfied with my house, car, job, spouse, dinner, wine, sunglasses, golf clubs…. I need the latest or better of whatever it is.
“I can’t get no…. satisfaction” wailed by Mick Jagger should be our national anthem. The smorgasbord of good choices we face in so much of life leaves us frustrated while looking for the next hit.
“Thank you” is a powerful phrase – and I use it too infrequently. Every breath I take, every forkful I eat, every kindness I receive- I want my first reaction to be gratitude not dissatisfaction or entitlement.
A Prayer for Today
God, you welcome me this morning in this moment of quiet. Thank you. Forgive my hurried consumption of life, often taking for granted the simplest gifts from your hand. For food and drink, for family and friends, for work that satisfies….Thank you. Let me see those you send across my path with gratitude. For Jesus’ sake….
