Books & Prayers for the Deck & Dock

June 30, 2014

One of the joys of this first six months of 2014 has been the close connection between the work of Touchstone’s board and our Touchstone Companions. While overseeing different aspects of our present and future work, their energy and commitment has given me great hope that our work continues in an expansive and trustworthy way.
I asked the Board and Companions to offer suggestions of books that have been helpful to them. Some novels, poetry, biography, golf and even spiritual writing emerged on the list – and some even offered editorial comments. I was impressed by the diversity and quality of the list- and now I have a lot of reading to do to catch up.
Just go to reading list and you can browse to your heart’s content. You will also see “Prayers for the Deck & Dock”a helpful series of prayers for help, confession, and noticing the presence of God in your life. If you want to know about our Companions we also have the statement of purpose and values for this important part of Touchstone’s work.
(for printable copies of the above visit the Resource tab and don’t forget to check the Events tab for details of our 30th Anniversary Celebration).
Have a blessed and re-creating summer, enjoy the holiness of leisure, and the Lord willin’ and the creek don’t rise we’ll be back with these weekly missives in September.
Teach us to pray
May the sun shine upon you and warm your heart till it glows like a great fire, where both stranger and friend may be warmed by it. May the Eternal Sun be on you, giving you light without and within, so that the light shines out of your life …. For Jesus’ sake

Pray like this:

Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:9, 10 NLT)
