We gripped our hats as March roared in with high winds and destructive force. Places in our continent have been left devastated. The promise in the back of my mind is that March will end gently – all because I’ve had this phrase imprinted in my memory since childhood. I’m not aware of evidence it is true. I burst out laughing when my grandkids chanted this line from one of their storybooks. “The truth is a lemon meringue” is now a laughter inducing mantra around our family. I let down the side for my gender but surprised my wife on Saturday. It was a gentle, warm afternoon as I hung our outside Christmas lights. Most years I wait for gale force winds and snow drifting around me to create a “real man’s” atmosphere for my artistic chore. More >
