Compassion or Scrutiny
So many of us operate under the scrutiny of clients, peers, competitors, family and friends that it is hard to feel safe. Our “inner scrutinizer” can also be a daunting voice in our soul.
Even though I occasionally “clean up well” and give the appearance of self-sufficiency and competence I still need safe friendships. Jesus’ compassion for the harassed was good medicine for me one morning this summer.
As you read this you are being seen with compassion by our loving God. As we connect with one another we bring tastes of that compassion to one another. Scrutiny sees weakness while compassion sees strength and potential for good. We need to give and receive more compassion.
A Prayer for Today
God, it is too easy for me to see others through the eyes of my own inner scrutinizer. Let the compassion with which you view me shape my vision of others….. For Jesus’ sake….
