I experienced the power of this old Jewish blessing this past weekend on retreat with a group of friends. Saturday morning I sat on a rock face overlooking the cottage. I was conscious of the men scattered about the property in silent contemplation of a Gospel story.

His eyes glistening with emotion one of the men said “I spent time quietly letting the love of God embrace me. I have struggled with believing I am loved – I experienced it today.”

Look, listen and taste the graciousness and warmth of God expressed towards you. Take the words and bless your spouse, child, friend, co-worker, and enemy.

A Prayer for Today

May Yahweh bless you
and keep you.
May Yahweh let his face shine on you
and be gracious to you.
May Yahweh uncover his face to you
And bring you peace (Numbers 6:24-26 JB)
