6:29 This Morning – Spring has Sprung

Scripture
But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? …. And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? …. Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. (Matthew 5:44- 48NIVUK)

6:29 This Morning – Spring has Sprung
Maybe while you read this the seasons are changing – we are shedding winter to open up to spring’s hope and growth. Light, warmth, and new life are the upward lift that we ride whether we know it or not. If my friends in New Zealand are reading this, spring sprang for you 6 months ago.

As earth tilts on its axis it reminds us that the universe tilts toward grace. It doesn’t always feel that way as we play by binary, quid pro quo rules in much of life. But Jesus calls us to be perfect like the Father. And it is about generous kindness regardless of return on investment.

It’s Lent, it’s Spring – let’s allow the tilt of the universe toward kindness and generosity shape our thoughts, actions and intentions today. Let’s play in our Father’s world as his kids, expressing his character – our family’s hereditary behaviour.

A Prayer for Today
Loving God, you are generous in shining the sun on us all without any favourites. It bugs me
sometime that you are so generous, when I would prefer a more orderly quid pro quo in life. Help me live today as your child, with the qualities that you’ve infused in my spiritual DNA. Let me be kind.…. For Jesus’ sake
