There is Enough Toilet Paper

Scripture

“And this is my prayer, that your love may overflow more and more with knowledge and full insight to help you to determine what is best, so that in the day of Christ you may be pure and blameless, having produced the harvest of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ for the glory and praise of God.”   (Philippians 1:9-11 NRSV)

There is Enough Toilet Paper

I don’t know about you but so much is happening so fast that it is hard to know how to respond. But a measure of our crazy times was a headline in Friday’s Globe & Mail with manufacturers assuring Canadians that there is plenty of toilet paper.

Self-protection is important and important for others we might infect. Isolating ourselves will be important but if it makes us insular and selfish, not concerned about those in need, we suffer a different spiritual virus.

These are interesting times where so many normal outlets -church, theatre, sports, music, business appointments, social greetings – are being restricted or cancelled. The unknown is greater than the known which can create anxiety in so many.

However, we do it we need the help of God and the help of others to have wisdom to do what is right and helpful. May we discover wisdom and grace notes in this new and disruptive way of living, with no date identified for its end.

A Prayer for Today

Loving God, I’m confused about all the disruptions to life as we have known it. Health and financial uncertainty have us in its grip. Grant us wisdom and patience to learn new ways of following you and serving others .…. For Jesus’ sake
